Arakawa Kyozo - the Hexagonal Scipture Storehouse

The Arakawa Kyozo was used in former times to store the Tripitaka, all the Buddhist Scriptures at Mount Koyasan. Today these scriptures are mostly in the Reihokan, the Museum of Koyasan. Some of the are very famous and are declared national tresures.
If enough people work together, the Arakawa Kyozo can be rotated with the handles, which can be seen on the photo.
