Daiedo, the Great Assemblea Hall

The Daiedo was built in the 12th Century by Princess Itsusuji, in memorial for her father, Emperor Toba. The building is devoted to Amithaba Buddha who represents the Western Paradise. The Western Paradise symbolizes a specific state of the mind, Amithaba Buddha himself symbolizes wisdom and compassion.
